The Training Center

Skills don’t maintain themselves. The Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee is where Local 14 members learn, upgrade, and certify throughout their careers.

What the JATC Does

The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee is a partnership between Local 14 and the signatory contractors. It exists to train the next generation of skilled insulators and to keep current members current.

The JATC administers:

  • The five-year apprenticeship program
  • Journeyman refresher and upgrade courses
  • Specialty certifications (firestopping, abatement, and others)
  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 training
  • Required regulatory refresher training for certified members

Apprenticeship Program

The primary program is the five-year apprenticeship. See the full pathway description on the apprenticeship page.

Refresher and Upgrade Courses

Active journeymen are required to keep certifications current. The JATC offers scheduled refresher courses for members whose certifications are approaching renewal.

Upgrade courses are available for journeymen who want to add specialty certifications or expand their scope of work.
